Are You A Bad Drunk Or A Good One?

Concerning “bad” drunks, does intoxication turn somebody from who he really is to who he really is not? Or does it turn somebody from who he really is not to who he really is? One could apply this analogy to followers of any ideology or alternate state of mind.
